Zero to Hero: My first chat

Before you chat with real guests on your website, it's good to play around a little first.

The best place to start is with a quick exercise. Don't worry about memorizing anything yet—we're just getting familiar with the basics. For this test, you'll play the part of both the staff person responding to the chat and the guest sending the chat so that you can see how things work from both perspectives.

Visit the Webclient for staffing ( US, CA, EU, SG ) using the username and password you used to request your trial.

You'll see a screen where you can review your staffing assignments. Accept the defaults and select the "Connect Now" button. Now you are ready to chat on the staff side.

Now for the guest's side. Open the guest's chat box by visiting its direct URL. You can find your trial's direct URL in your Welcome email.

Pro tip! Arrange your browser windows so that you can see the guest's chat box and the Webclient at the same time.

On the guest's side, initiate the chat by sending a message. On the staff side, send an answer.

If everything worked, congratulations - you've already started your first LibraryH3lp conversation. We encourage you to play around, sending messages and trying out the features on both sides of the conversation.

Pro tip! Watch our brief 16-minute Webclient overview video that will help you navigate through the different features.

Want other staff to answer chats from guests? Click the administrative dashboard icon in the left-side menu of the Webclient. Then go to the users management page to add more users.

In the next installment, we will walk you through getting chat onto your website so you can start chatting with real guests.
